We are looking for a Canberra-based Drupal Lead consultant to work on some of Australia’s largest and most interesting Drupal projects.

PreviousNext has a growing number of clients based in Canberra, and we consider this role a stepping stone to building up a larger Canberra-based PreviousNext team.

The Drupal Lead Consultant plays a critical role in the initial scoping, detailed definition and final delivery of the technical solution. The candidate must have a high level of Drupal expertise and deep experience in delivering a number of high-quality Drupal sites.

The position is a client-facing role, and candidates will need to have demonstrated experience in dealing face-to-face regularly with clients. Drupal lead consultants will need to mentor team members and need to demonstrate how they have worked successfully in leadership roles and team structures.

Candidates will have the following experience:

  • A background in structured development methodologies and practices
  • A number of medium to large Drupal projects under your belt
  • Custom module development and 3rd party integration expertise a must
  • Knowledge of Drupal best-practices and design patterns
  • Understand the principles and workflows around deployment to multiple hosting environments

Desirable skills and experience include:

  • Contributed patches to Drupal.org core or contributed modules
  • A good level of MySQL knowledge: joins, indexes, and some idea of how to avoid slow queries
  • PHP knowledge: classes, interfaces and object oriented design patterns
  • Linux: ssh and command-line basics a minimum
  • Experience with distributed version control systems: bzr, git
  • Good communicator: daily scrums via skype and basecamp messages and todos
  • Works well in a team of various areas of expertise: designers, themers, front-end developers
  • An open mind and lateral thinker and pragmatic problem solver
