Challenge

FremantleMedia Australia produces Australia’s highest rating TV programs, including MasterChef, The Biggest Loser, Australian Idol and The Apprentice. They asked PreviousNext to create an online system to efficiently manage the barrage of casting applications they receive from thousands of hopeful reality show participants.

Solution

We designed and developed a web platform using Ruby on Rails that enables applications for multiple FremantleMedia productions to be managed via a single re-skinnable interface, with the ability to add functionality over time as required.

Outcome

Since its launch in late 2008, the system has processed tens of thousands of applications and saved countless hours of casting agents’ time. The system is also served from a highly scalable hosting platform, which ensures it can cope with large spikes in traffic when the call for applicants is promoted in the media.
