PreviousNext-sponsored event lures Drupal founder
Dries Buytaert, the creator of Drupal and current project lead, will present a keynote address at an Australian event sponsored by PreviousNext.
PreviousNext is a presenting sponsor at this year’s inaugural DrupalDownunder conference to be held in Brisbane on January 22-23, 2011.
Drupal’s original founder and project lead, Dries Buytaert, will present one of the keynote addresses for the event. It will be the first Australian visit for the Boston-based Buytaert, who currently runs a Drupal enterprise services firm and also serves as President of the Drupal Association, a non-profit organisation formed to help Drupal flourish.
Speaking alongside Buytaert at the event will be PreviousNext Managing Partner, Owen Lansbury, and co-founding Technical Director, Mr Kim Pepper, along with a host of national and international guest speakers.
While major ‘Drupalcons’ have run in the USA and Europe since 2005, this is the first large scale Drupal event to be held on Australian shores.
More than 500,000 people in 228 countries use Drupal and thousands of organisations in a variety or verticals rely on Drupal to power their content-rich websites. This significant regional event offers sessions for all experience levels, and attendees can expect to mingle with the Drupal community; the innovators, thought leaders and a huge network of web developers, designers and social marketers.
According to PreviousNext's Owen Lansbury, “Australia is a couple of years behind Europe and North America in terms of using Drupal for sophisticated enterprise-grade websites, but we’re seeing the trend is definitely moving in a positive direction locally with the types of clients we’re now working with. The DrupalDownunder event is a great opportunity to showcase what’s being done locally and what the future holds with the recent release of Drupal 7.”
Lansbury and Pepper formed PreviousNext after 15 years leading world-class web agencies in Australia and the USA. This depth of experience, coupled with a strategic design approach and their enterprise-grade Drupal credentials, has seen PreviousNext grow the core team to more than 15 producers, designers and developers over the past year, whilst securing many of the higher profile Drupal contracts in the Australian market.
